Choosing Between Carpet and Laminated Flooring
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 20th, 2008 in Bedroom, Home Designs, Livingroom. The flooring of any room will perhaps be the last thing that people would worry about. Made from either standard wood or cement, covering them up is easy compared to choosing which furnishings and appliances to put. But look a bit closely and you may find that before you start thinking of those things, it would be wise to cover up that bare flooring first. Besides, it seems like a double job having to address the floor issue and then moving stuff back and forth.
Carpeting is common these days. It brings elegance and class. But the issue of cleaning may be a problem for most since instances such as water spilling over them may eventually result in bad odor if not acted upon immediately. The need to vacuum them often may sound easy but eventually you may find that routine and a waste of time.

Laminated flooring on the other hand seems to be a logical and simple solution. The simple matter of wiping the floor regardless of what spills over them is not as tedious compared to carpeting. Other than that, it seems to be more cost-effective.
So between the two, it all depends on how diligent you are in maintaining your house flooring. After that has been settled, you can start to figure out what things to place on them and inside the room.

Ancient Gargoyles in Modern Home Designs
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 20th, 2008 in Home Designs, News, outdoors. We have heard of various beliefs as far as keeping bad spirits away from our home. Turning to Feng Shui has been one of them and apparently there is another one at the moment. They go by the name of Gargoyles.

Sounds familiar right? Well we see them in movies and museums, supposedly to fight of evil spirits. They are categorized guardians of the keep but as far as homes are concerned, would you put one in your home? Better yet, would you want it to be the first thing that a visitor would see once they walk up to your front door?
The normal answer would be no. But if you are that superstitious, then maybe you would place a small one for the sake of protection and legendary beliefs. It all depends on culture and beliefs of the home owner. Placements of gargoyles don’t have to be that big or stunning to really scare out demons and spirit. A small one that can probably blend well will do. Just check out Gary Chang’s collection so you can see how they can mix well with the modern home.

The Pains of Being Caught in Recalls
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 19th, 2008 in BED News, Baby, Crib.
If there is one thing any customer would hate, it is being caught in the middle of recalls due to some defects in the manufacturing of certain products such as baby crib. Last month, I had posted an article about cribs that were recalled due to potential entrapment and strangulation hazards for kids and to this day, the recall is in process. The problem is the crib buyers are encountering a lot of discomfort, something that they should not be experiencing.
Some reason out as to where they can put their babies. We all know that it has been widely announced to refrain sleeping with kids since it may lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). That is practically the reason why they were advised to place kids in cribs. But with this recall on hand, where do they place kids?
Maybe the adults can sleep on the floor for the meantime. Now that is a discomfort they do not deserve. And if you happen to be one of them, it makes you wonder if you would even consider endorsing their other line of products.
The recall notice directed owners of the cribs to the Jardine Web site, which spells out details on getting a voucher for a replacement crib. Many parents who wrote us were surprised to see that they had to dismantle the crib and follow a multi-step process to get the voucher. Here’s what they’re directed to do after they request a recall kit:
Remove mattress support hardware and identification label using the kit’s instructions and Allen key that is provided.
Place the bolts, mattress support plates, identification label and signed acknowledgment form in the prepaid shipping envelope provided.
Send the envelope to Jardine via UPS.

Raw Materials Force Higher Bed Prices
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 19th, 2008 in BED Contemporary, BED Frame, BED News, Bed Designs.
In a world where the economic times have unfortunately dictated costing and pricing, beds and mattresses are not spared from escalating prices. Raw materials are seen as the main reason for this and apparently, bed manufacturers really have no choice but to jack up their price even if sales may sorely be affected.
The bad thing about this is that people are really feeling the crisis bug. With finances needing to be addressed according to what a person would need, some people are forced to make do with what they have, old beds and mattresses that have to do until such time that they can see their income improve.
Global prices of latex, cotton and polyester - the main raw materials for mattresses - have gone up in the past few months. Latex prices went up by 60% while prices of cotton grew by 20% in the last two months. Prices of polyester also surged by 25% in the same period.
The combined price rise of raw materials has affected the profit margins of the industry by 15-20% in last three months, experts said.

Nicole Kidman Looking for a New Mattress
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 18th, 2008 in BED Hollywood, BED Kids, BED News, Mattress.
Last week, Nicole Kidman gave birth to her biological daughter, Sunday Rose and hasn’t been seen since then. It wasn’t until July 16 that she was spotted at a mattress shop in Nashville apparently looking for new mattresses for her or her child. She was seen going in and out of the store with her husband Keith Urban.
Being the first biological child of Kidman, perhaps she is simply looking out for the welfare of her baby. And one good thing to do is to look for the best mattress in town where she and their baby can rest well. Besides, she has the money to buy one so for sure she will be open to the best bed mattress available in the market today.

0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 18th, 2008 in Bed Designs, Mattress.
The materials used in making a mattress can play an important role in providing comfort to the people who want to lay on them. As far as the Japanese folks are concerned, being a big fan of the Shropshire sheep will arouse the curiosity of people all over the world on why such a preference for these materials would be suitable and worthy for mattress buyers these days.
The soft and springy features provided by the Shropshire sheep wool is perhaps the answer to it all. Quality beds are sometimes gauged based on how much comfort they can give to us and for the Japanese, this has certainly caught their attention and apparently a guide on how to market quality beds and mattresses for people looking at quality sleep for themselves.
“We were delighted to host the television crew and to learn that wool from Shropshire sheep was so highly thought of in Japan,” said Mr Spencer.
“Although our main income comes from producing prime lambs for the UK market, the excellent fleece of the Shropshire sheep also plays an important part in the survival of lambs in the spring.
“New-born Shropshire lambs have plenty of wool cover, which is vital during the first few days of life when they need all the protection they can get.”

Furniture makers and distributors such as Camel can provide a lot of these ideas. Ranging from bedrooms to living rooms, you will surely enjoy what they have to offer. Placing Art and Blending Furniture with Paintings
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 16th, 2008 in BED Furniture, Bedroom, Home Appliances, Home Designs, Livingroom.
Paintings and works of art are sure to be the ambiance maker in homes and apparently the taste and the way that they are paired for most home owners will certainly make a difference. For most people, this will vary. There is always an artist in all of us. But what differs most people these days is the fact that they need to find the proper art work to go along with the other elements and furniture in a room.
If you happen to be an artist, with limited space, you can really come up with great concepts for any room. Placement and space limitations are challenges for interior designers.
Take for example this couple in Madrid. They had space restrictions but still came up with a good concept for their home.
Most of the furniture and the fixtures were either salvaged from junkyards or scavenged from antique stores. The antique marble pillars, which are from the old quarries of Andalucía, were bought from a dealer who travels the country accumulating and selling his finds, Ms. Williams said. Her husband, she added, “always gets the best possible price.”
Mr. Calabuig served as his own contractor on the renovations, hiring craftsmen from the surrounding areas. His father, a professional woodworker, was responsible for the intricately carved wooden door to the master bedroom.
In designing the spaces, Mr. Calabuig made several concessions for his American wife, including a large kitchen and an en suite bathroom for the master bedroom. “In Spain,” he said, “traditionally people don’t care too much if they have a bathroom in their own room.”
