Tips to Keep Pillow Cases Clean

by TanYA on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Marsha Fottler from the Herald Tribune has written an extremely informative article on pillow cases and how they are a breeding ground for dust mites and allergens. She advices to wash pillow cases regularly and also recommends HotMedics DreamShield Ultra pillow collection which made of 300-thread-count cotton and filled with microfiber.  You can check out the full article here and here are some tips from the writer:

– Avoid wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedroom, and fabric drapes, too.

– Keep upholstered furniture to a minimum in the bedroom.

– Vacuum regularly. Wear a mask and after the room is vacuumed, stay out of it for a half an hour.

– Replace wool, down or feather bedding with synthetics.

– Replace your bed pillows every couple years.

– Invest in allergen-impermeable covers for the mattress and bed pillows.

– Use a pillow protector under the pillowcase.
