How Many Locks Does your Main Door Have?

by brian yalung on Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Home security is important these days and while many have the usual home alarms, it would be best to check out the actual locks on your main door first before going advanced with home alarms.

The door knob lock would normally have the usual lock but that is normally not sufficient. Some homes use chain locks and others a third independent lock to really ensure that their homes are secure. So are 3 door locks enough?

Unless you have something of great value in your home, this is the most that you would see from any normal home today. Going over this may project something weird in nature and may not necessarily be feasible. Worst, in times of emergency, it may take you some time to get out of your house and it is in these cases that such home security measures may actually backfire.

There is nothing wrong with installing multiple locks. In fact it is recommended at the rate that burglaries and crimes are escalating in these times. But you should know your location and neighborhood better. 2 to three locks is enough. Don’t forget to check your backdoor as well since it is another potential entry for strangers or burglars.
