Pocket Doors for Easy Access

by brian yalung on Sunday, January 4th, 2009

The thing with making life easier is to make it accessible. One point that some people may want to consider is to provide easier doors to open such as pocket doors which make it easier to slide in with the wall partitions.

Some have space issues and while the door openings may not be all that big, you barely have to make any necessary modifications as far as construction is concerned. In fact, if you have kids or elderly people who have a hard time moving from one room to another, pocket doors can make it all the more easier for them to transfer.

When opening a swinging door which swings in toward you, you must grab the knob and step backward. This may cause someone who is weak and not steady on her feet to lose her balance. A pocket door is just slid to the side into the wall cavity and is totally out of the way.
