One thing you have to look out this Christmas season is that burglaries and home break-ins are bound to grow in numbers. Add the layoffs and economic woes, people will be looking for means to get some money and stealing is one thing that should not be surprising.

For folks, you cannot avoid leaving the home during long hours either to attend parties or go Christmas shopping. To serve as some form of protection here are some tips you can try to do to ensure that burglars will not try to ransack your home.

1. Keep Lights on in General Areas. This can be the kitchen, welcoming area or the living room. Keep one light on and if a radio to mislead robbers that there is someone at home
2. Install burglar alarm systems. You don’t need a sophisticated one. Just get a good and effective one so that in case intrusions occur, the police and neighbors will be alerted.
3. Inform neighbors. At times you can ask your neighbor to watch over the house while you are away. While the attention may not be 100%, at least you know that they can peak at your home from time to time.
4. Secure the Back Door and Windows and go out the Front door. Robbers would never come in the front door even if it was widely open. They know that this would be too easy. So block of the back door to which most break-ins are bound to occur.

These are basic tips but you may be surprised at how you can fend off the robbers from ruining your Christmas.
