Old Wood Molded into New Furnishings
Reclaimed wood from demolished buildings, barns or schools don’t necessarily have to be left out as raw materials left to rot. If paired with the right people who know what to do with them, they can come back in the form of catchy furniture designs that can really mislead anyone into believing that they are good as new.
Owe it to the creative minds of specialists like Nathan Christopher who seems to be putting his degree in natural resource management to good news. By transforming discarded wood and turning them into furniture that anyone would certainly be interested in, it is a form of business recycling from trashed wood which many home owners would want to check out.
According to Christopher, most wood from old buildings is either thrown away or burned, even though much of it is hard-to-find, old-growth wood up to 200 years old. He scours eastern Washington, Oregon and Idaho for old buildings that contain Douglas fir, maple, and other hardwoods and then brings them to his Seattle or rural Oregon studio to begin their transformation into his rustic-modern pieces.
