Apparently, you will never know when you will have company over. Once you do, there are times when they may have to sleep over due to some unforeseen problems such as weather or health problems. Once this happens, what bed can you offer for them to sleep on?
Well you really have less worries if you have a sofa or a daybed. The only problem here may be, which of the two would you rather offer them. Not all homes would have these bed designs but of the two, it may boil down to which you would feel would be flexible and usable in your home. And by useful we mean not only for accidental guests dropping by.

While earlier sleeper sofas had complicated mechanisms for converting them into beds, new models can be made into a double bed in no time by folding down the sofa’s back and arms.”
