Garage sales are common in most areas and some of the things you may see up for grabs would be the following:

1. Rocking Chairs
2. Sofas
3. Old Tables
4. Cribs
5. Lamps
6. Vases

If you think of it, you can remodel your home with some of these and with class. For sure, most of these stuff offered in garage sales are still usable and some may even be good as categorized as antiques which you no longer see in furniture stores.

On the other hand, if you have lots of stuff in the attic or the basement, why not make some cash out of it and free some space as well. Rather than leaving them there to rot and occupy space, hold a garage sale so you can make room and avoid being forced towards dumping them somewhere where you may even add to the garbage problem woes we are already experiencing.

This is perhaps the wise way to get rid of unused and old furniture for cash consideration or even upgrade your existing one to modernized furniture offered in the market. Not a bad idea eh?

It is quite obvious that for most parents, the proper design to choose as far as the nurseries are concerned is left up to them. But while we have been used to nursery themes as either pink or blue, we now see a total overhaul, perhaps seeing nurseries being designed according to what parents want to depict.

For babies, it would not matter. More colors and designs mean more attention for these infants to behold. In fact, some may find it better since they can explore the more. But today, you just have to consider, are nursery designs according to the kids or to you overall?

One benefit of this more sophisticated style of decor is that parents don’t have to change the room as their child grows from a baby into a toddler, because stripes and polka dots are as appropriate for a 3-year-old as they are for a baby.

Sirch is a convertible crib that takes a contemporary design route. It can be used with or without wheels and the slatted frame is adjustable. Another neat thing we found on the crib was the soft fake leather on the sides.

At times, we fail to realize the length to which a nursery or children’s rooms would last. Apparently this news article is something that has me confused in a way. For one, why would a country allow furniture exports into their wing without the proper safety standards that is practically a requirement for the sake of consumers? Perhaps it took a lot of deaths and injuries to tighten the standards of furniture quality. But as they say, better late than never!

This developed as we have seen a lot of recalls, particularly crib safety, and while many of us love cheap furniture, it should not serve as a compromise for safety. Hopefully though with these set mandatory safety certification, better control for erring suppliers who seem more to look at profit over consumer concerns.

The requirement will take effect on November 12, an official from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said here Monday.

Richard W. O’Brien, the commission’s director of Office of International Programs and Intergovernmental Affairs, said President Bush had signed a sweeping revision of consumer product safety laws on August 14, 2008.

In the latter part of last month, I had posted news regarding the recall of some cribs due to a potential suffocation hazard. While many have had their heads up for this line, apparently it can go as far as extending towards another line called Graco Bassinets and Winnie the Pooh brands.

Apparently, it seems that crib manufacturers have various lines and while we can easily identify one product line, it remains that related ones may more or less become dangerous as well. With that, Graco Bassinets are likewise forewarned as potential hazards and are likewise being recalled.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), some of the Simplicity Bassinets which were recalled last month could have been sold as Graco bassinets or with a “Winnie the Pooh” motif.

At least two infant deaths have been linked to a design defect in the bassinets where metal bars are further apart than permitted by the Crib Federal Safety standard. This could allow a baby’s head to become stuck, posing a substantial risk of infant strangulation.

For our babies, we would want them to get the best comfort wherever they may be sleeping like portacots. This includes placing additional foams, mattresses and pillows to get that soft sleeping position that babies are bound to love.

But while the intent is good, they can also be a threat. Babies do not have the same strength that adults may have and just in case, suffocation once these additional mattresses fall on them unknowingly.

Association executive director Tim Wain said he was alarmed by the findings of a Monash University Accident Research Centre study that suggested one in three people used additional padding with their portacots, unaware of the dangers to children.

“When you apply an additional mattress … it creates a gap that the child can roll into and because the sides of the portacot are flexible they can’t lift themselves out and suffocate,” he said.

For the parents out there who may have purchased cribs made by Simplicity, check out your models. You may be among the people who have purchased a potentially hazardous 3-in-1 crib that can put your baby in danger.

The actual issue here are the wood screws which are not compatible and may back out and cause potentially dangerous consequences such as suffocation for your child. So far there have been 14 incidents already. Don’t be the 15th!
