Zurich Platform Bed
0 Comments Published by HomeAndBedroom August 25th, 2008 in BED Classic, BED Contemporary, BED Furniture, BED Technology, Platform Bed.
Have you ever dreamed of taking a European vacation? One dream that many people share is the idea of traveling to some remote European country where they can sample the culture, dine on delicious and decadent foods, and live in luxury for a little while. The thing is, however, that European style has changed much in the past twenty years. While it is still possible to find the old gilt and glitter of ancient Europe, you are much more likely to find a bedroom in a hotel that is decorated with contemporary and modern designs. You can add these designs to your own home with modern platform beds and some other progressive style furniture.
Platforms beds have become all the rage right now, and are likely to replace the old standard of having a box spring and mattress simply based on the fact that the type of high quality mattresses available in today’s market do not need a box spring in order to make them supportive. The Zurich Platform Bed is a beautiful bed that is very reminiscent of the types of beds you will find in a more modern European hotel. This bed has straight, solid, strong lines and would work well as a bed for almost anyone, whether it is a single man or a couple in love.
Created by the fabulous crew at Lifestyle Solutions Furniture, this bed is one way to live out your European fantasies every day, rather than just once in a lifetime. Pairing this wood platform bed with some modern and contemporary bedroom furniture as well as some strong colors on the wall will give you the feeling of having a deliciously sinful European bedroom, one that works for both sexes.

The Return of Ostermoor Bed
0 Comments Published by brian yalung July 25th, 2008 in BED Classic, BED Contemporary, Bed Designs.Beds come in different brands and design. We may not be familiar with all of them, considering that the growing number of bed and mattress manufacturers today are swelling. But while we are unfamiliar with the new breed of bed makers perhaps Ostermoor is a brand we may mistake as something new.
Ostermoor is said to be brand that was quite famous in the 1850s. Today, it is making a comeback and will emphasize on the same hand-craftsmanship of the original ensembles.
So for the people who may be familiar with this brand, watch out. For sure this brand will be something worth checking out as it a classic on its own.

The new Ostermoor will emphasize some of the same hand-craftsmanship of the original line, its producers say. It is positioned as the first American-made luxury innerspring mattress. Retails will range from $5,000 to $10,000.
Ostermoor’s revival is spearheaded by Bob Naboicheck, president of independent bedding producer Gold Bond, based in Hartford, Conn. Gold Bond acquired the Ostermoor name in 1988.

The Modified Belmore Beds
0 Comments Published by brian yalung June 26th, 2008 in BED Classic, BED Contemporary, Bed Designs.
Beds originating from the 19th century times are sure to be a prized find. Some are still well-kept but for artist Rebecca Belmore, adding some new thing towards this classic four-poster bed with a canopy on top is bound to bring back ancient memories which we only get to see in the movies.
The bed is a classic four-poster with a canopy, exactly the kind you might see in the bedroom of an early 19th-century colonial gentlemen.
In this case, the bed was the kind once found in The Grange, the first home of the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. In the hands of artist Rebecca Belmore, the bed was modified - aboriginized you might say. She added human hair on the bedspread and beaver pelts on the canopy.
The bed was the centrepiece for Wild in 2001. In the performance, Belmore showed up unexpectedly at the gallery on Saturday afternoons and slipped under the covers.
