IKEA has opened its 3rd store in Florida, offering Swedish home furnishings and more to its locals. The 353,000-square-foot IKEA Tampa is located on 29 acres along Adamo Drive at 22nd Street and the Crosstown Expressway, adjacent to the Ybor City historic business district.

It is the Swedish company’s 3rd store and restaurant destination in Florida, 6th in the Southeast, 37th in the United States, and 297th worldwide. The store employs more than 400 coworkers and features 10,000 exclusively-designed items, a 350-seat IKEA Restaurant, 49 inspirational room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area and approximately 1,600 parking spaces. Other IKEA stores in the Southeast are in Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Orlando, FL; Sunrise, FL; and Woodbridge, VA.

Beginning grand opening day and lasting through Sunday, May 10, IKEA Tampa will recognize loyal, enthusiastic customers by giving away thousands of dollars in gift cards and merchandise.

• Take a Seat (And We Mean Take It!) – The first 100 adults (18 and over) in line at the IKEA Tampa grand opening on May 6, 2009 will receive a free POÄNG armchair.

Her agency won’t manage a property if it “still has a lower grade level of furnishings,” she said, adding that homeowners will often consult with Stay Savannah on how they should decorate their houses before putting them on the market for rent.

IKEA Mobile Device

We all know of the world going techie these days and it seems IKEA has gotten a new idea to help entice people to buy from them. And to cap it all off, they are offering a free mobile phone to its 1.4 million members for its loyalty programme thanks to its tie-up with T-Mobile.

The deal is identical to ones already offered by Asda, Tesco and Carphone Warehouse, with punters having to slap down an initial £10 airtime purchase, with no fixed monthly payments. Apparently, the service is tailored for an environment where “every penny counts”, whatever that means.

As part of the deal, all 9,500 of Ikea’s staff in Britain will get a freebie phone with a fiver’s worth of free calls thrown in.

For most people, the issue of having to spend a lot for remodeling or redesigning any part of their home is a cause for delay in being able to get the ideal designs today. With the rising cost of purchasing home furniture, designs and materials, people are bound to shelve it for now.

But what if you can get it all for a mere $500? Not a bad deal if you can come up with a good design for a room right? All it really takes is patience and resourcefulness as shown by two design students who were able to transform a guest room into a modern designed room only the financially able can do so.

The designers began by hunting for furnishings to replace the pieces they were removing, as well as accessories to liven up the space. Thrift stores and antique shops offered a lot of decorative inspiration, as did two significant pieces of furniture: a small walnut coffee table with dovetail inlays cost $10 at the Goodwill store in Cambridge; their most expensive purchase was a $100 credenza from Eddie’s Furniture in Somerville. “We talked him down from $130,” Boyer says. (Paying in cash made it easier to get a lower price.)

Boyer and Cabanilla discovered some suitable accessories – such as a large mirror – hidden in the couple’s storage areas. They also added a few newer items, like wooden shelves from IKEA that mount to the wall to save on floor space. The final, redesigned room includes all of these pieces set off by walls newly painted light beige, one of which has a barely perceptible metallic glaze on it that adds a golden glow to the room.
