Now here is something that is bound to be a good find for the people who are looking at recycled furniture. For one, who would ever thought that defunct PS2 game consoles would ever have any more use? Well Pli Design a good use for them and look at what they produced? A fine and stylish Ree Chair made entirely of old PS2 game console casing.
So if you are wondering where some of the dead PS2 game consoles are going, at least you know that you may be sitting on them through new and stylish furniture in the market today.
“The simple idea behind the Reee chair is to produce a recycled furniture product in the UK that has style, function and durability but does not compromise its environmental credentials - so our customers don’t have to compromise theirs,” said Alex Whitney, Pli’s design manager in a news release.
“We receive the supply direct, from the original manufacturer through a dedicated re-processor to our injection-moulder in London,” said Pli’s Director, Christopher Pett in an email interview with The Able Gamer, “so there is no other material mixed in with the original plastic.”

Leather Covers can Rekindle Worn Out Furniture

When it comes to leather, unless you are able to carefully maintain and take care of them, chances are they will wear out easily. We have seen most leather made furniture such as chairs, sofas and the usual couch at home and if we fail to address the proper way to clean them or care for them, they will soon loose their aura.
But thanks to innovations similar to seat covers, Cover my furniture now offers a great way to bring back the luster and add some ideas to present home furnishings as well. Leather covers can cover up the worn out home pieces and project a better image. Better yet, if you have the traditional cloth covers, you can also turn to these leather covers to change the style that they normally had.
Not a bad way to brighten up your home especially if you are thinking modern these days.

Cashew Nut Shell Liquid Preservatives for your Wooden Furniture Care
0 Comments Published by brian yalung August 19th, 2008 in BED News, Bed Designs, Cabinet, Chairs, Kitchen, Livingroom, News, Recycled, Tips & Tricks.
For most people who have wooden furniture at home, the maintenance issue is perhaps one of the stirring problems that people have to deal with. Making sure that their shine and overall appearance will not be compromised, people often turn to the various chemicals to ensure the quality wooden finished these days.
But that was before Cashew Corporation was able to come up with the Cashew Nut Shell Liquid, a less toxic wood preservative for wood crafts and furniture preservation.
One of the major problems with developing a totally organic wood preservative system was cost, but the new wood preservative described would provide a solution to the problem because it was relatively cost-effective, Surendra noted.
He said that wood preservative made by CNSL in its natural form was reported to protect wood crafts and furniture against termite attacks and possessed water repellency. Several studies had shown that activity of fungi and termite was less in CNSL +Cu treated blocks than in untreated blocks and blocks treated with CNSL alone.

Sitting on the Shanghai Riddle Interiors
1 Comment Published by brian yalung August 18th, 2008 in Chairs, Home Designs, Stools.
We all know that plastic has been hit hard by the eco-friendly practices today but you cannot discount the fact that compared to traditional furniture, putting hard plastic to use is way better that throwing them away.
The Shanghai Riddle looks a lot like the glorified and designed mono block chairs, made of hard plastic furniture that some people are turning to when it comes to chairs and stools. The Shanghai Riddle is quite deceiving. Thanks to a different type of design, they are made to look like wooden chairs but are actually hard plastic which homes can use since they are more affordable and lighter to move around.

Baas’ interpretation comes in the form of hand-carved elm replicas of plastic mass-produced furniture, highlighting the contrast between treasured Chinese handcraft and contemporary, mass-produced and mass consumed. As with all Baas’ work the unlikely aesthetic is humorous but thought-provoking rather than gratuitous.

Alessandro Beda’s The Untitled Chair
0 Comments Published by brian yalung August 12th, 2008 in Chairs, Cushions, Lounge. In perhaps what best describes this yet to be named chair conceptualized by Alessandro Beda, here is an innovative way of putting a unique lounge chair to use. But to get it done, Beda will need 100 pieces of shock absorbers to make it work.

The intent is to come up with a lounge chair similar to the LC2 Petit Comfort by Le Corbusier. If all goes well, this is something that will really be interesting. Hopefully though the shock absorbers to be used maintain the same height since no one wants to sit on a bumpy chair to gain comfort.
