Taking Home Looks from Futuristic Designs
0 Comments Published by brian yalung September 7th, 2008 in BED News, Home Appliances, Home Designs, News, modern beds.
Many of us are looking towards the future and how homes would be designed by then. Apparently there is already one person who has moved forward. David McMurtry who was knighted in 2001 has spent over 30 million on Swinhay House, providing a detailed look of the ideal home that can provide class and eco-friendliness.
Just look at the design highlights of his futuristic and modern home which was architected by David Austin:
A striking solar-insulated glass atrium covers the mansion’s indoor recreation area and 80ft pool and leads the eye to a bow-shaped gallery capped by a glass turret with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The house is spread across 11 levels that incorporate several self-contained apartments, a Jacuzzi and sauna, a games and TV room, two squash courts and a bowling alley. The garage is big enough for eight vehicles, and around one of the bedroom wings flows a water canal that cascades into a lagoon. Architect Andy Rathbone designed the parkland and gardens, the most striking feature of which is a curving lake, which has extraordinary bird sculptures and serves as an eco-friendly heat-exchanging system to control the temperature in the house.

Computer Desk-Bed
1 Comment Published by colbert January 12th, 2008 in BED DIY, BED FUN, BED Frame, BED Furniture, BED Home, Bedroom, Interesting Beds, modern beds. This is a cool computer desk-bed. It is the 2 in 1 combo of bed and desk.
For city dwellers tight on space and students in dorms, the Computer Bed combines a computer desk with a bed. A stylish wooden desk by that folds down to reveal a hidden twin sized bed.
Although the bed is useful and practical, it doesn’t look very sturdy. Even with the new “metal bed frame” and “wooden slate foundation”, a well-fed fellow would probably be too much for the joints and come collapsing down all his equipment.

Bedrooms of the Stars
0 Comments Published by HomeAndBedroom January 8th, 2008 in BED Home, Bed Designs, Bedroom, Interesting Beds, Platform Bed, modern beds.Do you ever wonder what kind of furniture graces the rooms of your favorite television and movie stars? Are they sleeping amidst fluffy pillows and surrounded by the solitude offered by canopy beds or are they simpler in their design, opting for the more modern trend of platform beds? Whatever you may believe your favorite celebrity has chosen as his or her nighttime furniture, you can rest assured that you’ll find similar styles and trends with online Discount Bedroom Furniture Stores that are just as nice and much more affordable.
While some stars will always choose to collect antiques and imitate a classic design quality, many have begun to opt for modern bedroom sets, updating their style into the 21st century and building around the minimalist look of platform beds. These have become the furnishings of choice for many people these days, offering clean lines and reduced size that isn’t overbearing in the room.
In fact, it would not be surprising to find wood platform beds in every bedroom of a celebrity’s home, offering a quiet, definitive background around which any theme can be centered due to the fact that platform beds are so unimposing in the space. Even king size platform beds seem less menacing and feel as though they crowd a space less because of their short stature and lack of intricate design aspects.
Of course, something else that may appeal to the stars is iron bed furniture, which has a quality that combines the here and now with the classic style that appeals to some celebrities. This compromise comforts many who feel the need to update without losing their sense of the past, and Fashion Bed Group Furniture has come up with several designs to emulate this style so that you can affordably have a bedroom that resembles what you may find in the intimate quarters of your favorite star.
Ben Weissman writes about decorating with iron beds, contemporary bedroom furniture and modern bedroom sets. Make your bedroom into a personal oasis.
