Here is another crazy sofa to add to your list of wacky concepts designed for some particular use. This time around, we have the Spider Phoebe Sofa. As the name connotes, it is shaped like a spider which even comes with a bonus workstation for all the computer geeks there for their computing needs.

Designed by Zuogang Wu, this sofa sofa features fabric upholstery that covers foam atop a metal frame. The legs are movable so that they can be shaped to suit the owner. From my angle, it looks like this sofa is quite customizable, with reference of course to the desired position that you should be in when it comes to rest or for actual computing.

Twist and turn or do whatever you wish to get that much wanted lighting and design with the Twistogether lamp. The concept of this lamp seems to be a page taken out of the famous Rubiks Cube, only that it can go beyond the limited square spacing. With its flexible nature, you can shape this Twistogether lamp to any form you wish. Each individual block twists around so that you can make them sit at different angles.

That also gives your child a little extra something that they can be creative with, which is always a bonus. It uses LED lights to give the glow that you see here. The major down side is that it might be difficult for parents to justify spending $104 on a light that their child could outgrow in only a couple years. After all, kids preferences never stay the same for too long.

The Twisted Lamp

Whatever happens in the elections, rest assured there will be some furniture shopping made especially if the new first family does not feel comfortable with what they see in the White House. This may sound petty but based on trends from previous Presidents, a change in furnishings has been a common practice.

Normally, you would think that that White House would be full of white painted and expensive furniture. But depending on appeal you can expect something new in the White House once the new president (Obama or McCain), is sworn in to take office.

“People buy furniture that appeals to them first, and, when they find there is a story that goes along with it, that’s a bonus,” Smith said. “So we do adaptations that make the piece relevant to the marketplace and also have some history. People think that’s terrific.”

New Furniture for the New First Family

Here’s a way to make a bed using some boxes. Not exactly the best way of making a bed but if you have a lot of boxes and not enough cash, this might get you through for a couple of months.

A new bed for $10 in 5 minutes.

Having blown $300 on a mattress, I wasn’t about to blow another $300 on a bed frame or box springs. I had all these archive boxes that I used for moving, so here’s a cheap-ass substitute.

Its as strong as a regular bed, environmentally-friendly and great for people who move frequently. And you instantly have 10 boxes worth of storage space under your bed!

Add mattress. The bonus is that this bed, with the mattress, is exactly the same height as the bed next to it (which is a standard bed frame from Ikea).

When you want to move, just flatten all the boxes, or you can use them to move!
