It seems that February has been a month full of concept chairs with emphasis on flexible storage options and now we have another one from designer Maclovia. Simply called the “Concept Chair”, this sitting solution provides the expected comfort together with some storage solutions underneath it.

It borrows the familiar functions of a common coffee table, comes with a storage shelf below for books and magazines and a comfortable low backrest. While only a concept, this is one chair that will surely take you the future of modernly designed and functional furnishings.

Mr. Chair is actually known as an Invisible Chair as well. It was made by Paul Sandip as a tribute of sort to another designer, Phillipe Starck who is best known for the Mr. Impossible Chair.

As a prelude of sorts, Sandip made the Mr. Chair. The chair is practically a standard chair that comes with four legs and are transparent. Each one has a mass of polystyrene balls inside, reacting to shaking and electrostatic energy which should really invite more mischief, especially if you have a lot of unruly toddlers that are sure to be fascinated by this cool chair design.

Just in time for the Christmas Season, here is a chair design that old St. Nick may approve. That or the design was something that designer Javier Alejandre thought of, combining some retro vibe which should get you to think about all those sci-fi flicks we have been used to seeing in the movies.

The Oddbod Chair is made from rotomoulded PET and pine. It “plays at the boundary between an inert object” and an animated movable. Another one of those artistic masterpieces that should be something to consider for people who love odd and unique furnishings for their home.

The Panasonic Roboticbed enables users to easily dock into the bed, doing away with the hardships that elder folks and patients have to deal with when they are transferred to and from a wheelchair.

This electric care assistance bed comes with a redefined structure, reducing motors with some modifications made to the components. It comes with Nice to see voice guidance and LED lights to inform the user whenever the bed is ready to release the wheelchair.

The Panasonic Roboticbed

Carrying a 20th century look, give Studio Thol some credit for coming up with this chair design. But do not let that fool you, it was actually meant for the modern day person, offering a dual-purpose style of being a chair and a tub.

It was all produced by inserting a marmer composite tub in an oblong oak wood cage. And from the looks of it, any pregnant woman may pretty much find it appealing and comfortable.

Though the concept meant well, there are some issues that may arise from this chair design. While it does look neat having to sit on something with a living plant inside, the matter of being able to survive since air-holes may be covered once people sit on them is an issue.

However the case may be different if you use an artificial plant if you are after something alluring. But knowing people today, you are after something neat and organic so perhaps more holes for this chair could do the trick (not necessarily on top).

Yu-Ying Wu, a Taiwanese designer, creates a new Tofu Chair based on the traits of a real tofu.  The Tofu chair turns into a super-comfy chair once your guest sits in it then turns into a block of tofu when not in use.

I see some great applications to this type of Tofu Chair designs, especially there’s also some “breathing” room for air to pass through.  I would really like to get one, can I order it now please?

The “breathing chair” looks like a piece of white, square tofu. Wu said that the chair is made of high-density foam plastic that is 100 percent environmentally-friendly. There is a “trick” behind the design of various sizes of holes in the chair – based on professional calculation of the spatial structure, the tofu-shaped chair, coated with three layers of foamed plastic, can “automatically adjust” according to the weight and posture of the person sitting on it.
