According to Cornell University an average of one pound of drywall ends up in a landfill site for each square foot of drywall built in initial construction. Even if this goes to a recycler, it creates added transportation pollution, requires conversion energy and it still only refers to virgin drywall – not demolished.

A space made with studs and drywall may have diverted waste during initial construction, but is in no way responsive to the needs of the living, breathing business working inside it. Building out interior spaces using drywall is not sustainable. The EPA estimates changes in these inflexible spaces result in 155 pounds of material waste for every square foot. Electrical components, paint, screws, vinyl and adhesives make all that drywall difficult, if not impossible to safely recycle.

These days you may say that commanding prices are something that will pull you back from making a good purchase of great furniture in the market. But while you are looking at the usual high end retail stores, take a second look. If you are having a hard time with them, then perhaps the same holds true for them also. Such is something that we fail to consider. Furniture manufacturers and shops have their share of hard times as well. And knowing business, one thing that they would hate is to see furniture stocks rotting in the stock room. The next thing you will know, there will be a furniture sale held by them. At today’s pace, a lot of stores hold these furniture discount sale. Surely, this covers everything you will need in your home. Beds, cabinets and home design sets. Just be on the lookout and you will be surprised at great bargains you can get from them.
