We have read about stories of how people use their creativity to turn garbage into gold but as far as Gregory Kloehn is concerned, here is new kind of home that he made from what was originally a dumpster. There have been many instances where we would see containers turned into living spaces but give credit to Kloehn for turning an old dumpster into something techie. Paired with the installation of some essentials like a toilet, a wall-mounted toaster and a cool kitchen countertop, this once forgotten dumpster has been transformed into one of the more innovative living spaces that could give modern homes a run for their money. During the day the roof raises up to reveal two rectangular windows and at night it can be cranked down to hide the windows and return the dumpster to its natural state of being. The dumpster has all the luxuries a person would ever want in their home, including a flat screen TV where you can watch your favourite films on DVD. This and more are what Kloehn has in mind, a neat idea to enhance fabricated living spaces. Via Dumpster transformed into a Home

For the people who want something ingenious when it comes to cleaning up some waste, you don’t have to use your actual vacuum cleaner as a whole to get the job done. As you know, the important part of a vacuum is the actual unit the sips the dirt and garbage out of the messy flooring. But rather than worry about cleaning it up later, here is a disposable way wherein you can just use an old bucket to store the waste after vacuuming. The concept is also ideal for vacuum cleaners that have broken holders. Rather than buy a new one and leave a perfectly functioning vacuum on the shelf, this alternative can save you some big bucks. The BucketVac is a very simple concept whose name says it all: a shop-vac attachment that easily fits on the top of any 5-gallon bucket. Just snap it into place, and you have something to clean up any wet or dry spills. (Source) Coolest Gadgets Cleaning House with the BucketVAC

There has to be something weird about this Spelta Lamp. You may even mistake it for a garbage can but then again, concepts and designs come in different forms and sizes. And for the Spelta Lamp, it makes use of “interwoven transparencies stretched to create a soft and organic form.” The rectangular modules of polypropylene are interchangeable and can be swapped for different materials, colors and finishes, all at the user’s whim.
We are all aware that some furniture designs normally originate from creativity and resourcefulness. Apparently, barrels which are familiar to us as containers for perhaps wine are overlooked once their contents are consumed. Where are they to go? For sure, dismantling them and perhaps making them firewood for some may be ideal but in both counts, you are hitting the garbage and the pollution problem if these are the actual things you have in mind. But if you are like Jonathan Black, who has the knack for transforming barrels into something useful and unique, maybe you too can think of a good design and use for barrels often referred only as storage. A bistro table or a hanging pot rack? A barrel head serving tray or a lazy Susan? A carved clock or a wall cabinet? “I’ve been doing this so long now I can take a barrel, look at that barrel, walk around it and look at all the different staves on the top and the bottom and determine exactly what product that barrel is going to make — how it is best served,” he claims.
One thing we have to watch out for home kitchens is how to manage litter and waste. While many rely heavily on the standard trash bins, there are great trash solutions such as this one, the Gaiam Compost Bucket that promises to organize trash and remove that stench as well. If you notice, a certain odor will fill the air if you don’t properly place and control your garbage. With this Compost Bucket, you can avoid such odors which are not only bad for the sense of smell but may attract disease bearing insects and rodents in your home. Rather than make daily trips to the compost pile because of smelly, compost-bound scraps, this countertop or under-cabinet Compost Bucket has built-in, activated-carbon filters to absorb odors. Toss in vegetable scraps, tea bags, eggshells and other organic materials, then take to the compost pile later. (Source) Gaiam Kitchen Essentials: The Gaiam Compost Bucket
