Heated Hammocks for Cold Days

We have been hearing a lot of recalls for the past year, a lot of which covered baby cribs and beds. Apparently no legal action was made since most of them were voluntary recalls until Amby Baby Beds and Cribs found out that there were 6 babies who died because of their product/s.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 24,000 Amby Baby hammocks on December 8. CPSC officials contend the side-to-side motion of the hammocks can cause infants to roll and become trapped against the side of the crib, posing the risk of asphyxiation.

6 Baby Deaths Linked to Amby Baby Beds and Cribs

Amby Baby Beds Recalled

Two infant deaths have forced the hand of Amby to issue a recall on these hammock like baby-beds. Apparently there is a suffocation risk solicited from the rocking motion which can cause the baby to turn over and suffocate on the fabrics or padding.

Safety advocates state that babies are safest in bassinets or cribs with a firm bottom and without extra fabric, padding, or any gaps that a baby could become trapped in. Amby says they will offer a free repair kit in January.
