Here is an innovative table you may want to get under your roof. The Northstar Table is actually the winner of the NASA Space Craft Contest together with Etsy, soliciting the imagination and creative nature of consumers that would be inspired by NASA’s Space Shuttle Program.

Apparently the Northstar Table got the grand prize. The table comes with a hidden compartment which can be opened by pressing one of the stars designed on its surface. The circular brass inlay represents the stars in the night sky on the evening of the first moon landing, and you have to identify the North Star in order to open the hidden drawer.

Toot Chen seems to have taken a page out of Beetlejuice with these oddly designed tables called the Animforia. The Animforia is a collection of tables that should spook you out if you are not familiar with differently designed stuff.

Look back at the holographic and 3 dimensional era to which lonely people no longer have to worry about being all alone. Thanks to the efforts of Mutsugoto, you may be surprised to find someone in bed with you on a visual aspect. Mutsugoto has developed some technology that is similar to the INBED, but made for two people in a long-distance relationship.

Both partners have a camera on their ceilings, and transmit the images above the bed to each other’s monitors. Each partner then has a ring that allows him or her to “draw” over the other’s bodies with laser light. Apparently, the ring is a motion-sensitive controller that moves the laser (originating from the ceiling camera, presumably) over the partner.

Apparently, the light beams feel like the soft pressure of a lover’s touch, and it is up to the user’s imagination where to point the light from there. Distance Labs has been trying to perfect this Mustugoto technology for two years, and they are looking for some couples to test it out this summer.

Apparently, seeing the props in the usual plays and stage musicals are not mainly works of wild imagination. For renowned designer Tony Duquette who is best known for designing costumes, this has gone as far as marketing his home designs as well.

Among them include this Marsan chair which can be traced to the 1950’s. Antiques as you may categorize them, they can cost up to $4,400 along with a potential consideration of his designed chandelier offered for sale at about $20,000.00.

Baker is making the designer’s fanciful aesthetic available on a wider basis with the Selected Works of Tony Duquette, a 19-piece collection that includes reproductions of his furniture, lighting and accessories. The pieces range from the elegant, 18th century-inspired Marsan chair, designed in the 1950s for Duquette’s one-man show at the Louvre, to the wackily whimsical Abalone Chandelier. Duquette designed the original for a house in Los Angeles but liked it so much that he eventually bought it back and put it in his legendary Beverly Hills home, Dawnridge. This vision of golden-age glamour doesn’t come cheap — the chair is almost $4,400, the chandelier a little over $20,000 — but there’s a lot of stylistic bang for the buck.

When Musical Furniture Start to be in Demand

We will always have surplus books in our home and perhaps the issue here would be how to get rid of them. In fact, ask yourself again and wonder if you should!

Books are good for reading and perhaps donating them or selling them to people who may need them is a good recourse. But did you know you could also turn some books into vases that could be good furnishings for your home?

All it really takes is creativity and imagination and you can come up with the unique home furnishings that may be better than buying any in the market. So before you dispose those unwanted books, see first if you can make use of them in any other way.

My idea of using second hand books came around after doing research into common unwanted objects. One of the most common unwanted objects that can be found at either charity shops, car boot sales and sometimes on the streets are books. I discovered that the glue in old books make them extremely difficult to recycle. Aware of this I challenged myself to turn the second hand books that I had been collecting, into desirable objects such as furniture, lighting and ornaments.
