How can we not put the spotlight (no pun intended) on something that is called “Trash Me”. The lamp claims to be a statement on the  current global culture and looks to be  ephemeral. The Trash Me table is made of paper pulp spread over a mold and left to dry. The lamp also comes with a request which is “please recycle me when no longer useful or desired”. Lamp Design – Levitating Magnetic Lamp!

Make a cool yet affordable LED Desk Lamp by using supplies from Home Depot and IKEA. The lamp has a flexible and adjustable neck that is made from electrical conduit and stiff wire to keep its shape. You can read the entire instructions here and this is what you would require:

Tools:

* Small Philips screwdriver
* Little Pliers (for bending and cutting wire)
* Big Pliers (for cutting through stiff electrical conduit
* Hole punch (not the kind you find in an office, the kind that looks like a screwdriver but with a very sharp end)
* Note: If you have a drill, you can use that instead of the hole punch. If you have a hacksaw or other metal-cutting tool, get that out as well.

Don’t discard those scratched cds and make a uber cool lampshade out of it. You would need a six CDs (or just a CD box ), a soldering iron and a small lamp that will fit in our CD box. The lamp has to be not too small, because it would go out of the CD box.

Instructions:

A. If you don’t have a CD box
The construction is very easy. You have to place the cd’s at 90 degree angle, and then you have to make little holes between them using hot soldering iron. Now if the “standing” cd won’t fall, it means you can add third one (just the same way you attached the previous two CD’s to each other). If it looks like the (3 CDs) construction on photo, repeat what whole thing to have two CD corners(made of three CDs). Now we have to put the lamp between those two corners, and then connect corners just to make a CD box.
B. If you do have a CD box
We have to unattach one CD of the box, put the lamp inside and then use soldering iron to put the CD back to its place.

“I burn holes in the lamps with a soldering iron and connect them together with ‘tie-wraps. You need also tools to strip the wires and connect them together. I use piggy-back connectors (used in cars). They come with a nice tool to squeeze them together, but there are various other ways. You can use a clothes hanger to mount the lamp on the ceiling.”

Make unique lamps and vases from leftover bottles by following the instructions posted here.

Method 1: Dip a piece of common string in alcohol and squeeze dry, or as dry as it will get without dripping. This string should then be placed on the already marked glass and tied tight. Light the string and let it burn off. Immediately, while the glass is still hot, plunge it into cold water. Be sure the container of water is large enough to let the glass to completely submerge, as well your arm up to the elbow, so as to deaden the vibration when you strike the glass.

Strike the glass with your other hand above the line using a wooden stick and hitting a sharp stroke. This quick, sharp stroke will break the glass where the burning string has weakened it, as if done by a regular glass cutter. This method may be used to cut bottles in any shape, and to make vases. You can perform many such cuttings on glass.
