While we all know that today, leather based sofas are racking in millions due to consumer preference, be aware of the end-results that can occur if you are not careful in determining what materials they come in.

This sofa which is said to be from China (again!), uses certain chemicals that can cause burns and eye problems. Much of these sofas are distributed by Land of Leather, Walmsleys and Argos.

The furniture, from China, is thought to contain a chemical which can cause burns and may be linked to some deaths.

Argos said it made recalls, Walmsleys and Land of Leather gave refunds.

As well as recalling about 30,000 sofas they had sold, Argos also said it had refunded customers.

So if you happen to buy leather sofas from any of these outlets, check out your sofa. Avoid the inconvenience brought by these defective and health hazard bringing leather sofas to your fold.

Decline in sales is something to be expected and in this case of sofa retailer, Land of Leather, such a crisis should not really be surprising. Action plans to help make up for previous poor performances are to be expected but the thing is, you really have to consider the fact that the times today are really hard.

Most consumers today are price sensitive. Furniture buying now is not as rampant as before. While many are hoping for brighter days ahead, you just have to decide on whether you will continue with your furniture biz or fold up just like a Murphy bed.

Land of Leather said: “Market conditions have remained challenging due to the increasing demands on consumers’ disposable income and the continuing credit crunch.”
