For those of you trying to save space in college and you have a bunk bed with no one using the bottom of it, here’s a great way to make a hanging desk on the bottom of the bunk bed and save more space.

If you’re just putting up a loft and shoving all your crap under it, though, you’re wasting more potential than Lance Armstrong riding a Wal-Mart special. Lofts give you a sturdy piece of furniture with plenty of wooden beams – it’d be silly not to hang stuff off of them! That’s precisely the idea I got when I came home this summer and needed to build a desk. Instead of buying PVC pipe to build a standing desk, I picked up some chains and built a hanging desk. Now, not only do I have a cool-looking desk, but I also have all the floor space I would have had with no desk at all.

How to Make a DIY Hanging Desk Out of a Bunk Bed!

For those of you with a bit of carpentry skills and perhaps and old, broken pinball machine, you can make your own LED pinball coffee table.

There I was, minding my own business, when all of a sudden (as all good stories start) I found an old pinball machine at the dump. I promptly took it home and has help putting it in the house where it sat in my living room long enough to put rust stains on the carpeting where the metal feet sat.

It wasn’t complete enough to make it work without spending a lot of time and money on it. I live too far away from a market to sell it as-is. And honestly, the wife didn’t seem too keen on starting a game parlor with our limited space.

So I decided to make a coffee table out of the main playing surface.

This is the Spongebob Square Bed i made for my kid. its a pretty basic loft style bed. because the ceiling is low i could not make bunk beds, so i made the underneath to store toys. the kids have to climb through Spongebobs mouth to get to the steps. i also made Spongebob easy to remove to make it easy to change the sheets, he simply lifts off.
