Bed, Bath & Beyond is in the news for all the wrong reasons. A case has been filed against Elizabeth Miller, the manager of the Bed, Bath & Beyond store in Lexington, Kentucky. Miller refused to help a couple whose three-year-old got trapped in a van! She didn’t let them use the store’s phone to dial 911 citing company policy.

“First Assistant Fayette County Attorney Brian Mattone told the Herald-Leader Thursday that under the duty-to-report statute, everyone has the duty to report dependency, neglect and abuse of a child if they have knowledge of it. Mattone said prosecutors thought that Miller, through witnesses, had knowledge of possible abuse or neglect. Moreover, there is language in the statute that says “nothing should relieve their obligation to report,” Mattone said.”

Case Against Bed, Bath & Beyond Manager

TigerTown developer Newton Oldacre McDonald LLC announced Monday that a Bed Bath & Beyond superstore will soon be under construction between Dick’s Sporting Goods and Kohl’s, which is also under construction.

The 23,000-square-foot store will be the company’s first in the Lee County area and the 14th store in Alabama, according to a written release from the developer.

According to a recent study conducted in the US, its not only adults who suffer from Sleep Apnea as 4% of kids suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.

“I noticed his really heavy breathing and snoring,” said Kris Vail, Timmy’s mother. “I noticed every now and then, when I’d wake up in the middle of the night. I’d hear him just [gasp] like short breaths, and it made me a little nervous.”

In addition to Timmy’s snoring, doctors found that the youngster had enlarged tonsils which was also a sign of obstructive sleep apnea.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, other symptoms include:

Difficultly waking up Headaches during the day, but especially in the morning Irritability, agitation, aggressiveness, and crankiness Being so sleepy during the day that the child actually falls asleep or daydreams Speaking with a nasal voice and breathing regularly through the mouth

“Children who have obstructive sleep apnea — what happens to them is that when they go to sleep, they actually tend to either partially close, or completely close their airway off,” said Dr. Sumit Bhargava, attending physician in pediatric respiratory medicine and the co-director of the Yale-New Haven Pediatric Sleep Center in Connecticut.

The mummified remains of the nonagenarian were found in bed and according to tests conducted, the 96-year-old woman has been dead for a year. The niece has been sent for psychiatric observation and many believed the motive was to collect her aunt’s pension.

Such has been the claim of Rockaway Bedding which has until September to close out its books. Rockaway Bedding was operating 194 stores around the regions of New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania. However, due to lack of income from its operations, the management of the said Randolph-based company decided to stop operations.

All that remains at the moment is developing a liquidation plan until December, which involves settling some debts as leases and mortgages.

Rockaway Bedding, the bankrupt mattress retailer that operates 194 stores in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, has until December to develop a plan to close out its operations, a judge said.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Donald Steckroth in Newark gave Rockaway four more months to come up with a plan, according to court papers filed Tuesday. Without the extension, creditors and other parties in the case could file rival plans.

Today is Friday the 13th and most of us know that Fridays falling on this date are usually associated with bad luck. Stay in Bed Superstitions

Responding to an ad for blow out sale on a mattress, in the newspaper or on tv, might deliver a very unpleasant shopping experience.

Most of the mattresses advertised this way are bonnell spring mattresses and the dealer wants to attract you into the store with the cheap sounding price tag.

These mattresses are really cheap to manufacture, so lots of dealers use them as bait, in huge newspaper or tv ads, to get you into the store.

Of course, once you’re in the store, they pull the old bait and switch on you. They’ll tell you how crummy the cheap mattresses are and try to up sell you to one of the higher priced bonnell spring mattresses.

The reason bonnell spring mattresses are so cheap is because the springs are all tied together and then surrounded by a hard wire. This wire runs around the outside edge of the mattress to hold it in shape. This wire is so rigid and unforgiving that when you sleep out toward the edge of the bed, you’ll definitely feel it under you and it’s not a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Bonnell springs are hour glass shaped and they’re tied back to themselves at the top and bottom. There’s one glaring problem with this design, since all the springs are tied together, what happens on one side of the mattress directly affects what happens on the other side.

When someone flops into bed, you can be jolted clear up off your side of the bed. It’s what is known as motion transfer.

The reason for this is the iCoil mattress technology. The coils are much smaller, so there are many more of them. They’re encased separately, so that compressing one coil doesn’t affect the one’s surrounding it. There’s, virtually, no motion transfer.

Remember, motion transfer is a big deal if you sleep with someone who tosses and turns at night. When they flop down, you go up and vice versa. It’s like riding a bucking bronco in your sleep.

Another problem, with bonnell spring mattresses, is the valley. Two people sleeping close to each other will create a valley that they both roll into, colliding in the middle. This is called meeting in the valley and it isn’t a pleasant way to spend the night. If you roll into each other, in the middle of the night, you know you can’t roll back uphill to try and get to your side of the bed, you’re stuck.

This is a new technology and it seems to be a big improvement over the old technology.

My personal favorite is the platform bed section. (Don’t call me biased, I just really like platform beds…) I actually have a Retro Platform Bed with a prototype memory foam bed I got directly from a manufacturer. (for free of course!)

What I like about their site is that they actually have other furniture to complement the bed you buy. For example, if you bought a Zurich Platform Bed, you can get the Zurich Mirror or Zurich Dressers to complement it. I remember when I bought my bed, I couldn’t find any matching furniture so I went to Target! (Yikes…)

Water Beds are found exciting by some but we all can do without the kind of excitement the folks over at Childers Street, Deptford experienced. Apparently one of the resident’s water bed burst and fire-fighters were called to get rid of the water! This was because the residents feared that the water could leak into light sockets and cause a fire! It took them about an hour to get rid of the water and had to individually take it out via buckets!
