Remy Alarm Blanket

Here is something that you may want to consider taking with you when you go to bed. Much of us want to know what goes on in bed when we sleep and while these may occur at times where we least note them to be, it would be best to have a handy device as the Remy Alarm Blanket which monitors your movements and alerts you as well.

This is a good device to use especially if you are the type who wants to monitor your sleep movements in bed.

Designer Dasha Anokhina has created a concept that takes Glo pillow’s design to a new level: REMY is a whole dawn-simulating alarm blanket. The system monitors your sleeping movements with a bedside camera. Then, near your chosen alarm time, the blanket begins to light up with an image representing your sleep pattern, waking you as if the sun was rising. And if you’re really into self-analysis, it even saves your sleep data to a USB stick so you can review it later.

Space Shuttle at NASA

This is not a deceiving post. It is true. NASA has offered a sum of $5000 for people to simply lay on bed for a 90 day period with limited movement. They will be required to be awake for 16 hours though and sleep the usual sleeping hours of 8.

For people who love to sleep and stay in bed, don’t be surprised if they bite the offer. $5000 is not joke and to just stay there and become an eventual guinea pig may be worth the 3-month offer.

But the downside is your body may become restless and you as a person will become bored on being observed by scientists on this experiment. With that in mind, can you even fall asleep knowing you are being observed by someone in the shadows?

Nothing beats the help of a new and comfy mattress and apparently it is just what a person needs to be able to sleep properly. We all tend to overlook the value of mattresses over time, more so perhaps that all we care about is having a good place to sleep. We never really care about the quality of these mattresses and by all indications, the quality of the bed we are resting on will surely play a large part in helping us get the satisfactory manner of sleeping.

A New Mattress Does a Body Good

The survey also reveals that respondents who report getting seven to eight hours of sleep each night (7.5 hours is optimal) are more likely to be sleeping on a newer mattress (one to four years old).

Additionally, findings reveal that those sleeping on a newer mattress are significantly more likely to engage in physical activities than those who sleep on older mattresses:

Activity: Running 59% (mattress one - four years old), 6% (older mattress)

Activity: Weights 54% (mattress one - four years old), 8% (older mattress)

Activity: Aerobics 57% (mattress one - four years old), 9% (older mattress)

The same survey found that 81 percent of Americans report waking up with back, neck or shoulder pain in the past year, with nearly half (46 percent) of respondents reporting that they frequently (at least a few times a month) wake up with these types of pain that limit their physical performance.

Bed Wetting Alarm

Babies are known to have their share of wetting their bed. These are normal occurrences since they usually have to be trained prior to understanding how to control these personal qualms. But this study relates it with loud snoring, something that will surely be an issue for infants that has to be addressed. It is not plainly an issue about snoring but rather about looking at the whole picture for our kids’ sakes.

“Our findings were really an eye-opener,” said study co-author Dr. David Gozal, director of the division of pediatric sleep medicine at the University of Louisville, in Kentucky. “Why children with bed-wetting have high levels of this hormone; that will require a bit more research.”

About 9 percent of boys and 6 percent of girls at age 7 have trouble sleeping through the night without wetting the bed, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The problem — which affects about 5 million American children — runs strongly in families. Nighttime bed-wetting, which is also called enuresis, is not the fault of the child or parent. For some reason, the child’s brain isn’t responding to normal cues to wake up and empty the bladder.

Atlas T-Pillow Released by Back2Sleep

Here is a good add-on towards people who have problems with sleeping and snoring. Back2Sleep has introduced in the market the Atlas T-Pillow. While laying on one’s back, the Atlas-T Pillow is designed to maintain 16 degrees between the cervico-cranial (Atlas) junctions, which widens the airway openings, and thereby stops or alleviates snoring.

The things we turn to that can help us during our bed problems are imminent and by all means, breakthroughs such as this a welcome note on the part of the people who long for restful sleep.

“We are incredibly pleased with the results derived from the Atlas-T Pillow®, and the millions of people we will help who can’t get a restful night sleep due to snoring, headaches, or those waking with feelings of numbness and/or tingling in their extremities and other possible afflictions preventing them from sleeping through the night. While we are classified as a class I medical device by the FDA, this is a product that was designed to help the masses. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the dangers associated with snoring, which include cardiovascular disease and obesity.”

Beds for Babies

We all want our babies to be by our side but if you are wise, it would be best to leave them to their cribs for the time being that they are in their infancy stage. This is apparently because more people today fail to realize the danger of possibly lacking in attention as far as baby safety is concerned.

Such problems can be categorized under the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) cases where the rate of babies dying because they are left sleeping beside their parents. Such an issue has been in Lucas County to which they have put together a program for babies where the “Beds for Babies Program” will provide cribs for babies and protect them from being SIDS victims.

“We believe that it is much safer for all babies that are newborns to be properly placed in a crib, because we know that’s the safest place to sleep,” explains Lucas County Board of Commissioners Tina Skeldon Wozniak.

We have all been focusing on the ideal and unique beds offered in the market today yet we tend to forget the other decorative partners such as chairs, couches and sofas that go with them inside our houses and bedrooms. We all know how sofas and couches are seen as good alternative sleeping places and perhaps with the ideal design and make, we can see ourselves sleeping on them rather than our beds.

It is a possibility. There are people who would prefer their sofas or couches over the proper bed space. The bottom line is comfort. While we all know that beds are made for sleeping, sleeping without comfort will totally negate why we have them in our rooms. Thus, the second option of having ideal couches and sofas come into play. Need a good design? Maybe you can put in your own idea. Check out this video.

We all know that beds were made for sleeping, but this video really got my attention. We see various acts to serve as entertainment and while the beds may seem like ordinary ones, it is obvious that there are trampolines beneath them.

A word of caution to the adults, do not let your little tykes to this home. We all know how kids love to jump up and around their bed and they might just try it.
