For sure you may have used the steps or stairs to sit on during one occasion or another. And it looks like that idea has given designer Geof Ramsay had this in mind with the Staircase Seating Systems.

One could only imagine how awkward and lacking in comfort sitting on the steps would be but if you had a cushion of sorts such as this one, they all that may change. Consisting of just three footfalls, Ramsay was able to come up with an odd seating design that places stairs on a different light.

The middle part was transformed into an armchair complete with a backrest. With some cushions to go, comfort and some flanking treads allow the seating system to become handy side tables and perches for anyone who may eventually have them.

We have seen LEGO inspired items in tables, beds and some other kind of piece that should be suitable for homes. And now on the interior designing side we find these Blocked Interior Designs, something from I-Beam Design that should really attract the attention of the LEGO freaks and geeks.

This one is actually a stair beam made of about 20,000 LEGO blocks. The visual design of the railing creates a flow of receding color up and down the stairs.

Aside from that, the apartment offers more color schemes all made of LEGO displays which actually does render a feeling of wider open spaces despite small living environments. Whatever the case may be, you can bet that this is one interior design inspiration that should be neat and cheeky.

For homes which want to maximize space, here is another solution for you. They are the Tansu Chest Stairs, a keen addition that offer storage space as well. All this was made possible thanks to the space or gaps beneath the staircase, an oddly shaped crawlspace where people may store some stuff.

The Tansu Chest Staircase was designed by Damara Ortolani Sisti and Megan Moynihan. The staircase was said to be inspired by the Japanese Tansu Step-Chest or the Kaidan-Dansu Chest, offering unexpected drawers which are magnificently hidden and functional when needed.

The Compon Stairs from Marretti offers a combination of wood, glass and steel capped with some lighting as well to make sure you see where you are going and maybe set the mood for a particular area when needed.

The overall design offers a simple and clean composition where the added lighting obviously offers a new twist for homes looking for one. The stairs are wing-shaped with each step projecting from the wall with the illusion of floating up step by step.

The stairs come in Beech, Oak, Doussie, Wenge, Teak and Iroko finishes among others and can be oiled, bleached, polyurethane varnished, and resin-coated in any color.

Spiers + Major have drawn the curiosity of a lot of folks for magnificently lighting up the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Scotland’s top historic art venue.

They were able to conceal all the wiring and electrical equipment, ding the trick on a hard-shaped staircase which should leave you wondering how easy it would be for them to do it on standard stairs. Additionally, a 13.8m chandelier was used using lengths of fluorescent tubes encased within double acrylic cylinders.

Add technology with a familiar Japanese branded character and you are bound to draw attention towards cleaner homes with a twist. At least that is perhaps the message that Japan manufacturer Sanrio is trying to send across when it introduced this iRobot like home cleaning contraption called the Hello Kitty Roomba Robot.

So for the people out there, particularly the women and fans of Hello Kitty, here is a neat device you should really have. Clean homes are what most of us want and here is another gadget that can surely make it happen.

It is expected to hit the market by September 30 and has been priced at $800.

Roomba, a product of the cool-sounding iRobot company, is a self-contained robotic vacuum that patrols your home or apartment in search of dust and dirt. Like all roombas, the vacuum cleaner employs sensors to help it avoid stairs and, basically, is one of the only Jetson-ish home appliances to ever successfully cross the line from cartoons to reality.
