Here is a supposed clock from a vase-like structure. Obviously something that can break into pieces easily from a slight fall, the stick you seen in the image will reportedly gently tap the glass at every hour. The design is a product of Georgios Maridakis at the Royal College of Art which may be ideal for the elite people who have a knack for ambiance-making furniture. The tone is said to be adjustable and depends on the varying level of water inside. A brand new concept but too fragile for a home that has lots of kids inside day in and day out.

Make unique lamps and vases from leftover bottles by following the instructions posted here. Method 1: Dip a piece of common string in alcohol and squeeze dry, or as dry as it will get without dripping. This string should then be placed on the already marked glass and tied tight. Light the string and let it burn off. Immediately, while the glass is still hot, plunge it into cold water. Be sure the container of water is large enough to let the glass to completely submerge, as well your arm up to the elbow, so as to deaden the vibration when you strike the glass. Strike the glass with your other hand above the line using a wooden stick and hitting a sharp stroke. This quick, sharp stroke will break the glass where the burning string has weakened it, as if done by a regular glass cutter. This method may be used to cut bottles in any shape, and to make vases. You can perform many such cuttings on glass. For more methods head over here. DIY: lamps and vases from Bottles

At times, a bare table top lacks the luster that can make it fit into a room. Normally you would see a vase, a figurine or even some picture frames bearing the family members or the portrait. But if you don’t have anything around, check out the Italian way of decorating that boring table top. You can even see what Italian design behemoth Matteo Alesi has to suggest for your home! His love for galvanised steel screws and flat-pack garden furniture aside, Matteo, 30, had to pass three tests before he was allowed to work for the family firm. The brand has been around for nearly 90 years, and is still very much a family business, but the company has applied strict rules to the employment of anyone bearing its name. Matteo is the only one of his 15-strong generation who works for the family firm. He gained his Master’s degree (rule one), learnt a second language (rule two) and worked for another company for two years (rule three) before he was embraced by his elders.
