Editor’s Note: Here’s the next generation Murphy Bed!

The original version of the murphy bed or wall bed has not really changed much since the patent was applied for on April 1, 1916. The new version of this bed system is known under the name Slide Away Bed. What’s unique about this cabinet bed system is that it features a sofa during the day and a lounger and bed by night. An additional cool feature is the ability to choose over a 1,000 possible fabric combinations. It’s a great home office bed or perfect for small apartments, condos, dens, dorms & vacation retreats.

The Hideaway is the ‘top of the range’ system, also known as the CA-VOT with the automatic leg system, the top door / doors form a foot board when the bed is down.

This bed has to go into a purpose built cabinet. A combination of a sub frame and an automatic leg allows doors (often 4/6 doors joined together) to pivot so the top door forms the footboard when the bed is down. Also referred to as CA system.
