Retaining the British Quality Furniture

British Time Masterpiece

Ever since the 17th century, the United Kingdom has always been known to uphold quality in everything that they do. This has been passed on to the succeeding generations and we can see today that much of this has been the prime reason for being the top quality furniture products.

The furniture biz has been growing today and we see the birth of new furniture manufacturers originating from countries like China but if there is one thing that the British hold, it is the emphasis on quality rather than mass production.

This has been the trademark of British quality and for sure, upholding that tradition is a need. That is perhaps why an apprenticeship program to make sure quality does indeed continue to last.

“British furniture has a glorious legacy that dates back to the 17th century. Sadly, British manufacturing is petering out, which is why we are now running an apprentice training scheme to train woodworkers in traditional cabinet-making.” The problem is these skills come at a price that can’t compete with the likes of China — Benchmark’s Rose dressing table, above, by Kay & Stemmer, costs £3,950 — but British made these days is more about quality than quantity
